THE LATEST AND GREATEST IN THE WORLD OF SAFETY

Per your committee peers 😊

The Safety Sense email being sent out to all active employees for the month of October how to use a fire extinguisher.

We welcome any safety topics you feel should be sent out in our monthly email. Please email Betsy with topics you’d like to see covered (Betsy will do the research).

Looking back at September: there was no top injury as they were all different. We did have two finger injuries. One minor and one severe. We need to remind SA’s not to take shortcuts. Procedures are in place for a reason as well as the order in which they are in place. Taking shortcuts can put them and coworkers in harm’s way.

Overall, September had the least amount of injuries for 2023. Let’s keep that pattern by spreading the word of safety!

The 3rd Quarter has come to an end and that means a new market winner for our safety initiative. The market with the lowest frequency (hours until injury) of injuries will be announced mid-October.

The second session of Work Comp 101- How to complete a First Report of Injury has taken place. We have lots of internal staff signing up to learn how to complete them or to get a refresher. If you haven’t completed this 30-minute training, reach out to your manager, and let them know you’d like to sign up.

Remember with each incident it is our responsibility to find the root cause of the problem and figure out what needs to change or how to fix the problem to ensure the safety for our employees! Even if the SA declines treatment for the injury we still want to investigate what happened so we can prevent it from happening again. Need help finding the root cause to complete your injury file, more importantly, the Post Accident/Injury Questionnaire? Remember the following:

What happened;

How did it happen;

Why it happened;

What needs to be corrected.

Work with your clients to make sure our SA’s are safe, and we are providing them with a safe space and environment to work in. Safety is a team effort!
